Welcome to my miniature world, a thoroughly absorbing hobby which I would love to share with you. First I will let you into a secret, there are thousands of us out there, but we keep it quiet because people say things like 'Doll's Houses at your age, honestly!' All you need is patience, a sense of adventure and to be prepared to admit you still enjoy the fun things in life. I hope that together we can share and learn.

This house started life a very long time ago and was second-hand when given to me when I was small (I think someone had thrown it away and my father rescued it!). I had since I was a young adult planned to refurbish it, but only got round to it about three years ago when I hurt my back, definitely no longer a young adult! I will give you more detail of the work and the technique in the workshop when it is up and running! This is how it looked when I started to work on it!

From my research I have found that it may have been a Silber and Fleming House (London : 1850 -1900) By the time I got it been much altered and there was damage, so it proved impossible (for me at least) to restore it exactly and so I went ahead with alterations to bring it to the condition it is in now, as a Victorian Town House. The furnishings are circa 1900. There are no people in my houses as I prefer it that way! There are however in each room signs of the inhabitants! The original interior had only four rooms on two floors, but I decided with the help of one my technical advisors and trouble-shooters Perry to add one floor and a staircase, hall and landings. My other miniaturist friend and trouble-shooter is Pat Bradley and there is a link to her miniature world on the links page.

The Irish Cottage started life as a cardboard box which I then plastered with interior filler in a rough texture (more details in the workshops when they are up and running, but I will be happy to answer any questions you may have in the meantime by E-Mail.)
It is modelled on an original cottage on a country estate near where I live and at the turn of the century 19th to 20th it was used as the Coachman's House.
