Would have been used by not only husband and wife but frequently the younger children too although the older family members would probably have slept in the kitchen. The furniture made again by either itinerant woodworkers or the man of the house and the soft furnishings by his wife, possibly together with friend in a sewing bee! The quilt, etc. was made from left over material or indeed from old garments no longer of use for anything else
